Wind Damage Specialists
24/7 Emergency Response
Wind Damaged Your Home. We
Assess the Full Scope and
Fix Everything.
Wind damage in Phoenix is not just a roofing problem. Monsoon straight-line winds and haboob outflow events produce damage across the entire building envelope simultaneously — lifting roofing, tearing fascia, shattering windows, collapsing patio covers, dropping trees, and sending airborne debris into siding and walls at speeds that cause real structural damage. Haboob dust walls push fine desert particulate through every gap in the building envelope, coating interior surfaces and infiltrating HVAC systems throughout the affected neighborhood. And because Phoenix wind events occur during the same monsoon season that brings heavy rain, wind damage to the building envelope means rain damage to the interior of the home within hours. RCS Builders repairs wind damage completely across Greater Phoenix — roof through exterior through full structural and interior restoration. One call. Done right.

What Wind Damage Assessment Must Cover — Not Just the Roof
⚠️ Wind Damage to the Building Envelope During Monsoon Season Means Rain Damage in Every Subsequent Storm
A wind event that damages your roof, breaks a window, or tears a soffit panel during monsoon season does not produce a single damage event — it produces ongoing damage with every subsequent storm until the envelope is restored. Phoenix monsoon season runs from late June through September with peak activity in July and August — multiple storm events per week. Wind damage that compromises the roof at the start of monsoon season and is not repaired exposes the interior of the home to water intrusion in every subsequent rainfall event for months. The cost of wind damage compounds with every storm that follows. Emergency board-up and tarping stops the compounding immediately. We respond 24/7 throughout the entire monsoon season.
Storm Roof Damage Types
How Wind Events Damage Phoenix Homes — Every Scenario We Restore
Phoenix wind damage events are more varied than most homeowners expect. Here is every wind damage scenario we respond to across the Valley.
01
Monsoon Straight-Line Winds
Monsoon outflow boundaries produce straight-line winds of 60 mph or greater that affect large portions of the Valley simultaneously. These winds lift shingles, displace roof tiles, tear fascia and soffit panels, damage or destroy patio covers and shade structures, break windows on exposed elevations, and drop trees onto structures across the affected area. Straight-line wind events produce the most widespread simultaneous damage of any Phoenix weather event.
Most Widespread
02
Haboob — Dust Storm Wall
Arizona haboobs are massive walls of dust — sometimes miles wide and thousands of feet high — driven by monsoon outflow winds at 40–60 mph. The abrasive dust blast strips exterior finishes, forces fine particulate through every gap in the building envelope, infiltrates HVAC systems, and coats all interior surfaces in homes with any air gap at windows, doors, or penetrations. Haboob events also produce high winds that damage roofing and exterior structures at the leading edge of the dust wall.
Arizona Specific
03
Tree & Large Branch Impact
Monsoon winds bring down trees, large branches, and palm fronds across Phoenix neighborhoods — impacting roofs, vehicles, fences, walls, and patio covers. Tree impacts on roofs cause structural damage to roofing, decking, and framing that requires immediate assessment and tarping. Large branch impacts on walls cause stucco cracking, framing damage, and window breakage on the impact elevation.
Impact Damage
04
Patio Cover & Shade Structure Collapse
Patio covers — aluminum, wood, and lattice — and shade sails are among the most wind-vulnerable structures on a Phoenix property. Monsoon winds regularly collapse, displace, or completely destroy patio covers that were not properly anchored — and a collapsing patio cover frequently impacts the adjacent wall, eave, or roof surface of the home as it fails. Patio cover and shade structure damage is assessed and documented as part of the wind damage claim scope.
Exterior Structures
05
Window & Door Damage
Wind-driven debris and direct wind pressure shatter windows and damage door frames and glazing on the exposed elevation of Phoenix homes during major wind events. Broken windows create immediate interior exposure to wind-driven rain in any subsequent storm. We board up broken windows immediately as part of emergency stabilization and include window replacement in the complete wind damage repair scope.
Immediate Board-Up
06
Fence Damage & Collapse
Block wall and wood fence sections collapse under monsoon wind loading across Phoenix neighborhoods — particularly at gate openings and at sections that have existing footing deterioration from hard water mineral buildup in Arizona soil. Collapsed fencing creates security and safety exposure in addition to property damage. Fence damage is assessed and included in the wind damage claim scope as a covered exterior structure component.
Block Wall & Wood
07
Roof & Fascia Wind Damage
Wind events lift shingles, displace and crack roof tiles, tear fascia panels, damage gutters, and compromise the roof-to-wall connection at the eave — the most structurally critical point in the roofline. Fascia damage that exposes the top plate of the exterior wall to weather is a time-critical repair during monsoon season — rain that enters through damaged fascia travels down inside the wall cavity and is completely invisible from finished interior surfaces.
Roofline Critical
08
Haboob Dust Infiltration — Interior Cleanup
Homes with any gap at window frames, door seals, or HVAC penetrations accumulate significant interior dust infiltration during a haboob event. Haboob dust infiltration ranges from a light film on interior surfaces to heavy particulate accumulation in homes with significant air gaps — particularly older homes with deteriorated weatherstripping and failed caulking. HVAC systems running during a haboob event pull dust through return air and distribute it through the duct system throughout the home.

Hidden Damage
Where Wind Damage Goes Beyond the Surface — What Assessment Always Finds
Wind damage on the exterior of a Phoenix home is always a signal of additional damage inside the building assembly. Here is where wind damage travels that the surface never shows.
1
Through Lifted Roofing Into the Attic & Decking
Wind-lifted shingles and displaced roof tiles expose the underlayment and decking beneath them directly to rainfall in every subsequent storm. Water that enters through wind-damaged roofing saturates attic insulation and roof decking — in Phoenix summer conditions, within 24 hours the attic reaches mold-growth temperature and moisture thresholds. The ceiling stain inside the home appears days after the attic is already significantly damaged.
2
Down Interior Wall Cavities From Damaged Fascia
Wind damage to fascia and soffits that exposes the top of the exterior wall allows rain to enter at the roof-to-wall connection and travel down inside the wall cavity — saturating insulation and framing from the top down. This hidden wall moisture produces mold growth inside the wall cavity without any visible interior staining and is only detectable with thermal imaging and moisture meters.
3
Through Broken Windows Into Wall Assemblies
Wind-driven rain that enters through a broken window does not stay on the windowsill — it runs down the interior wall face and into the base of the wall assembly, saturating the bottom plate and the flooring at the base of the wall. Window-related water intrusion during monsoon events produces water damage at the floor level directly below the broken window, frequently affecting adjacent flooring and the wall base.
4
Through HVAC System From Haboob Infiltration
Haboob dust that enters through any building envelope gap is pulled into the HVAC return air system if the system is running during the event — distributed through supply registers and deposited on interior surfaces throughout every room in the home. HVAC filter replacement and duct cleaning are standard components of haboob infiltration cleanup in homes where the system was running during the event.
5
Into the Stucco-to-Framing Interface From Impact
Wind-driven debris and tree branch impacts that crack or dislodge stucco create a gap at the stucco-to-framing interface that allows moisture infiltration into the wall assembly. Stucco cracks from wind impact that appear minor at the surface may have dislodged the stucco from the lath behind it — creating a hidden gap that allows wind-driven rain to enter the wall assembly at every rainfall event until the stucco is properly repaired.

Immediate Action Guide
Wind Just Damaged Your Home — Do These Things Right Now
Step 1
Stay inside until the wind event fully passes
Do not go outside to assess damage during an active wind event or haboob. Visibility during a haboob can drop to near zero and wind-driven debris is a serious hazard. Wait until the event fully passes before any exterior assessment.
Step 2
Document everything immediately after the storm
Photograph and video all visible exterior damage — every elevation of the roof, all fascia and soffit, all windows, patio covers, fencing, and any tree or debris impact areas — immediately after the storm passes. Document before any cleanup or stabilization occurs.
Step 3
Board up broken windows temporarily if safe
If it is safe to do so, place plywood or heavy cardboard over broken windows from the interior to limit dust and rain intrusion until professional board-up arrives. Do not go onto the roof or exterior elevations until the wind has fully stopped.
Step 4
Turn off the HVAC if a haboob occurred
If your home was in a haboob event, turn off your HVAC system at the thermostat. Running the HVAC after a haboob continues to pull dust into the return system and distribute it throughout the home. Leave it off until the system is assessed and filters are replaced.
Step 5
Call RCS Builders — (480) 204-9035 — 24/7
We respond to wind damage events throughout monsoon season. Tell us your address and what damage is visible — roofing, windows, patio cover, tree impact — and we will mobilize for same-day emergency stabilization.
Step 6
Report the claim to your insurance carrier promptly
Call your homeowner's carrier and report the wind damage event as soon as possible. Timely reporting is required. You do not need a full assessment before reporting — report the event now and let the documentation follow.
Wind Damage Is Covered. We Document Every Component.
Wind damage to your home — including roof damage, fascia and soffit damage, window breakage, patio cover and exterior structure damage, and interior water intrusion from wind-compromised envelope — is covered under standard Arizona homeowner's insurance policies as a windstorm peril. Questions & Answers
Wind Damage — Frequently Asked Questions
Does homeowner's insurance cover wind and haboob damage in Arizona?
Yes — wind damage to your home's structure, roof, windows, and exterior components is covered under standard Arizona homeowner's policies as a windstorm peril. Haboob damage — dust infiltration interior cleanup, HVAC cleaning, and damaged contents — is assessed on a policy-specific basis depending on the entry mechanism and how your policy defines the covered loss. We document the damage and the entry mechanism correctly and work with your carrier to establish the coverage basis for every component.
A haboob pushed dust into my home — is that covered by insurance?
Possibly — it depends on how the dust entered and your specific policy. Dust that entered through wind-forced gaps or broken seals during a haboob event may be covered as windstorm damage. Dust that infiltrated through normal air gaps in a home that was not otherwise damaged is more difficult to establish as a covered loss. We document the entry mechanism and work with you and your carrier to establish the correct coverage position. Either way — the cleanup is necessary and we handle it.
My patio cover collapsed in the wind — is that covered?
Yes — patio covers and other exterior structures attached to the home are covered under standard homeowner's policies as windstorm damage. Detached structures — freestanding shade structures, pergolas not attached to the home — may be covered under a separate structures provision with a separate coverage limit. We document all exterior structure wind damage and include it in the Xactimate estimate with the appropriate coverage basis for each structure.
Wind damaged my fascia and two more storms came through before I called — will insurance still cover it?
Yes — the initial wind event is the covered loss. The additional water intrusion from subsequent storms entering through the wind-damaged fascia is secondary damage resulting from the covered event. We document the original wind damage and the subsequent water intrusion pathway under one claim. This is exactly why timely tarping and board-up after a wind event matters — but even if additional rain got in before you called us, the coverage basis is the original storm event.
Can you handle both the exterior wind damage and the interior water damage under one claim?
Yes — exterior wind damage and interior water intrusion from the same wind event are one insurance claim. We document and restore both under one Xactimate estimate, one project manager, and one claim. One event, one call, one contractor.
How long does wind damage repair take?
Emergency board-up and tarping — same day. Assessment and documentation — one to two days. Permanent repair timeline depends on scope: fascia and soffit replacement typically takes 2–5 days, window replacement 3–7 days, patio cover rebuild 1–2 weeks, roof repair 3–7 days. Full projects involving structural damage and interior restoration run 2–5 weeks. We provide a detailed timeline at the start of every project.
